Chalkboard Porch Box

I’m stepping away from my 31 Days of French-Inspired Style series for a moment to post a picture of my chalkboard porch box.

Whaaaat?….2 posts in 1 day! For me, that’s a record!

Anyways, here’s the box dressed for fall….

I found this old metal box at a local store. It was pretty beat up, so I took it out to the yard and gave it a few coats of chalkboard spray paint. After it dried, I “seasoned” it by rubbing the flat side of the chalk all over it in both directions and then erasing.

It sits on this old stove …..

In the spring, it holds ferns, vines, and caladiums. There’s still a caladium in there and I know it’s not a fall-time plant, but it’s so hard for me to pull out plants that are still blooming. Does anyone else hate doing this or is it just me?

This fall, I’ve added a few pumpkins and a yellow mum….

Now, I can write special messages on it – like I did when I hosted a wedding in my home….

I really love the “bloom where you are planted’ saying though, so that’s usually what I leave written there.

I love the chalkboard trend, don’t you?
