31 Days of French-Inspired Design Day 7: Fabrics and Textiles
There are many fabrics and textiles used in French country design. Some of the most common that are seen in French-inspired style today are:
toile…
sourcelinen…
sourcematelassé…
source unknownticking…
grain sacks and other striped fabrics…
source sourcefabrics with monograms are also desirable…
sourceThere are many uses for French (or French-inspired) textiles in the home.
Of course there are the usual pillows, runners, and curtains.
But you can also use these fabrics in some unconventional ways.
How about simply draped over a basket….
sourceor beautifully stacked on a shelf…..
sourceSmaller fabric pieces can be uses as sachets…
sourceAnd how cute is this vintage fabric stocking!
sourceHere, the homeowner took a European monogrammed sheet to cover the bed and placed a pretty, striped grain sack to drape across the foot of the bed. Simple and beautiful!
sourceOf course you can also make fake grain sack and use them as chair covers like I did here……
I hope to get a tutorial out about this soon (after the 31 day series, of course!) because there is a funny side story about these chairs!
I hope you’ll join me tomorrow to talk about French-inspired lighting.
P.S. Happy Anniversary to my wonderful husband!
